So for my 2D design i was originally inspired by my bracelets that i wear all the time,
these hold a certain sentimental value to me, so i wanted to keep that feeling in my design. Which is why i chose the subject matter i did, well get to that later lol.
The bracelets i have use surface design in their favor, the black one for example, uses the same pattern but it mirrors it horizontally, so that it has a flip flop effect to it. LOL
The silver bracelet just uses the same design again, less interesting comparatively, however the shape of the panels have these interesting grooves on it, which i think are pretty funky, in a good way!

There were a few other things i took a picture of that showed examples of 2D surface design, however these examples weren't as cool as what i was going for. >:)
Except for the chains, those were helpful
Time to yap about why i chose what i chose, first of all i love video games, i know kinda dorky, however there is one game that rules above them all, my beloved dragon age 2. Its really not that good of a game, the graphics aren't game changing, the level design (if you can call it that) just reuses most of the sets and textures, and the story is admittedly kinda boring.
Why do i love it then? i hear you ask,,,, simple, its the characters and relationships between them that hold it all together, and one certain character in general, a broody white haired elf, that i am clinically obsessed with.
At this point I'm going to end up getting a tattoo dedicated to him, but i digress, this character is Fenris, my muse, back when i first played the game, this was probably early to mid high school, i was going through a lot, and using dragon age as a way to "escape" was,, well it was what i did. This shitty game is one of the reasons that kept me going and the determination and resilience shown from Fenris was, in a really corny way, inspiring.
This sentiment is the reason why i chose to represent him in this project, also its pretty and was really fun to make!
With all that being said with the actual design, i wanted to create something that i would personally enjoy, and not just chuck in a box when I'm done with it. I think it turned out wonderfully, and I'm curious how I'm supposed to go ahead and laser cut it into reality.
Anywhoo!, this project was another banger, and I'm excited to see where we go from here! After all I'm the average rinohead enthusiast now!
